News

WLOX.com just learned a 20-year-old George County resident appeared in court Monday on charges he allegedly torched a home and two vehicles.  Blake LaBarron Ables is accused of the August 9 arson fire on Jim Jam Road in the Benndale community.  Investigators said nobody was home the night of the fire.

Authorities charged Ables with first degree arson.  If he's found guilty, he could serve 20 years in jail.  The suspect was also charged with two counts of third degree arson.  According to a George County Sheriff's Department news release, third degree arson carries a sentence of up to three years in prison.

When Ables made his initial appearance in court, a judge set bond at $25,000.
