Murder trial date set for Lucedale man | News

The trial of the youngest of four men accused in the 2009 robbery and shooting death of Jermaine Jebon Kelly will take place next month.

Judge Robert Krebs set October 10th for the murder trial of Spencer Lawrence, 20, of Lucedale.

Lawrence and three others; Jermaine Zachery Sims, 20 of Semmes, AL; Myron Johnson, 40, of Lucedale; and James Johnson, 42, of Moss Point are accused of breaking into Kelly's Moss Point home, stealing cash and shooting Kelly three times.

Prosecutors told WLOX News they decided to try Lawrence first due to what they believe is his "elevated role" in the crime.

Myron Johnson pleaded guilty last week to robbery and accessory after the fact. He's expected to testify in Lawrence's trial and will be sentenced afterward.
