Congressman Palazzo Announces April Mobile Office Hours

The next city council meeting is set for tonight at Lucedale City Hall at 7 p.m.

George County officials will take oath of office Tuesday

George County elected and re-elected officials will take their oath of office Tuesday at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the George County County Courthouse located at 368 Cox Street in Lucedale.

The next city council meeting is set for Tuesday, January 3 at Lucedale City Hall at 7 p.m.

Congressman Palazzo concerned about defense cuts

Congressman Steven Palazzo said any further cuts in defense spending would be dangerous and morally irresponsible.

The first term 4th District representative spoke to the Harrison County Republican women on Monday.

National security and proposed defense spending cutbacks were the major focus of Congressman Palazzo's remarks.

"We're not going to be able to balance our nation's budget on the backs of our men and women in uniform," Palazzo told the luncheon audience.

"They're talking about cutting benefits for our veterans.

Mayor Lee seeking office of MS State Representative

Mayor Lee is seeking the office of Mississippi State Representative and Alderman Underwood is seeking the office of Justice Court Judge in George County.

Alderman Underwood said that he would not and could not continue as an Aldermen should he be elected to the position of Justice Court Judge.  Mayor Lee stated that his plans were to stay and hold both offices.

Run-off elections for the party primary will be held on Tuesday, August 23. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
