The George County Sheriff’s Department attended the funeral and the procession of fallen Mobile Police Officer Steven Green Wednesday.  Green was killed Friday while transporting a robbery suspect.

Public Information Representative for the George County Sheriff’s Department Shonna Pierce said her department attended the event to show support.

“When Sheriff Welford died back in 2010 the Mobile Police Department came up here to show their support,” Pierce said. “ We just wanted to return the tribute that they showed him after he was  killed in the line of duty."

Pierce said multiple law enforcement agencies from South Mississippi also attended the funeral.
